Nice post. The one thing to keep in mind while building link from any site is that how many links are going out to from that site to other site or blogs. Because if the quantity of outgoing links are more from where you making link for your site will be not as good as if you are making a link from site which have very few outgoing links.
You’ll get very high link juice and pr juice, if site have low number of out going links. So keep this in mind, always check how many outgoing links the site have from where you are making link for your site…

Well having good PR feels better. But I dont think Google gives it more importance in its algorithm.
As you said PR can be increased with high number of backlinks, almost true. I feel to rank better(SERP) we need better quality of links, may be just few.
My blog is almost entirely about undiscovered YouTube talent (or people who haven’t figured out where they should be focusing their talents) so most of my posts consist of YouTube videos. It’s not easy getting the page rank up with that little to go by seeing as I can’t exactly guest blog or submit my blog to article hosts.

With comment luv you get two links – one in the name and one in the article title below. Google only lets you have one backlink per URL so which does Google choose? You would think Google would crawl the top link first and go down the page because seo techniques always say to make sure you do things in the first paragraph because Google sees this first. So, which link does Google see? is commentluv a waste of time other than people clicking and it driving traffic that way?

Interesting post. I have seen a lot of sites with completely different PR. Some with 80 posts and a PR 2 whereas some with 20000 posts but still a PR2. Why is there such a huge range? is there any particular metric we can use to improve our PR?

DMOZ is not really supported anymore, so actually getting into it would be a challenge just on its own.

i would like to point, whatever directory you have suggested in your blog, is commercial and charges amount from $ 100-300, that means Google page rank will be improved after spending some money, but another way Google sys that we do not accept money to get your content at higher rank,

I think that google will increase pagerank to older web-sites and in “some way” seems that old websites still updating their content will take a “higher” pagerank than earlier websites. Why wouldn’t page rank matter? I’ve never seen a popular website rank a low pr.
PR Matters because if you have a high PR your website articles and posts get indexed more quickly then a website with low PR .PR matters because it can help you in making money of your blog most advertising companies prefer high PR blogs rather then Low PR

Vidushi By Creating multiple pages I mean that when ever you create a page in your website it creates an internal link to your website. So if you have lot of internal links then it would increase your backlinks in total which will eventually increase your Page Rank . Take of it as this way . more links in your site pointing to your site = Greater Chance of getting good PR

i think writing original content will boost our page rank without enough back links,as per seo experiences back links just for article serp boosting. but we can see some website with high pr without enough content and less back link…now thanks for this tips

I like the article, I follow most of the stuff there. I have a question Facebook now has rank for fan pages, some pages like Lady Gaga’s have a pagerank of 8 and all the way down to 0 So, If I get a lot of facebook likes using a site like the one here Like4Like.org will it pass the page rank back to my site because of links I have put in place?

No Not Really Because Websites like Facebook don’t give do-follow back link so it doesn’t really matter much
but it will still help you drive more traffic

You did not mention low obl, and it’s importance to commenting on blogs, it’s better to use sites that are well moderated, because that way it teaches us to read the whole article and make our comments useful.
This way you should get a link back?

Hi Saad, would you happen to know how often backlinkwatch.com updates itself? And when you mentioned that Google actually updates its page rank analysis 3 to 4 times a year, this really explains why my SEO work seems to have no results all these past weeks. So Google only updates its page rank analysis just a few times a year. Ok, so perhaps my SEO backlinking work is going to have real results the next time around.. *fingers crossed.

Good morning, I am new to the whole page rank thing. I Googled “how to improve your page rank” and came across your posting. I found it very informative. I wish I had your skills. Pretty darn smart for a 16 yr old! I am going to try some of your tips and keep you posted on the results. Thank you for putting this information out there for people like me. It seems like a never ending confusing process for the novice. I have a relatively new site that specializes in flexographic printing plates, which is a pretty niche and onscure market. Your tips are very well explained. You mentioned on #5 – to keep updating the website. Just not sure if pinging is a good idea after updating and making changes to the site! Anybody know if pinging is good or bad? Thanks.
Pinging, I think the author maybe referring to sitemaps.xml that search engines require on a regular basis. The sitemaps.xml contains a roadmap of website pages for bots to crawl through and index. A sitemap is usually generate by website authors.
Pinging is refreshing data to and from a client & server. Kinda mostly related to multiplayer gaming, correct me if I’m wrong or not clear enough though.

Great tips you’ve shared here. What I do most is comment on other blogs. I think this is a great way to build relevant backlinks and also form connections with other bloggers in the same niche.
I’ve also done a little bit of article marketing and building a couple of Web2.0 properties.

I still put guest posting in the first place being the best link building techniques as well as brand building. Google has been changing the algorithm for many times, either private or public, natural link is what we really need in the end.
