If you don’t have a domain name which can be easily remembered, your customers will face difficulties while revisiting your site. I have seen some domains that consist of just letters, not words. They are very difficult to recall. So they will not get many revisits. So my idea is even it is bit long, add some words which can make sense on your customer.
Not only the domain name itself, but also the domain name registrar also affects your business. If the domain seller doesn’t consist of a 24/7 days customer support, how can you contact and correct your domain name issues? Simply if you don’t have a good domain registrar, the down time of your website may be higher than your competitor. Your customer will go away without knowing that this is a temporary error of your site. They will buy products which are belonging to your competitor. You will lose sales.
By looking at these few points you may understand the importance of your domain name for your online business. But I have seen most of the bloggers emphasize that domain name is the most important and sole factor to bring you more sales by increasing visitors to your website. I would like to say even though domain an important factor to decide the success of your business up to some extent, it is not the sole factor to determine the destiny of a online business. Domain Name does matter in the success of an online business, but it is just a small contribution. What matters more is that the business model should appeal to the people. Unless, it is a region specific website, the .com extension should be preferred for the domain name.
To some extent yes, it can do that! But, I still feel that other things which include your promotional activities and content are more important!
The answer is definitely NO. Many of us believe that the domain name should be related to the blog and suppose if it is a tech blog, then the word ‘tech’ should be there in the domain. It is useful then. But take an example, shoutmeloud is one of the best blogs that is based on blogging tips. Has the name anything to do with the success? Shoutmeloud is nowhere related to the word blogging. What i want to say is that, all that matters is quality and helpful content with proper SEO and good presentation. Your hardwork will decide the destiny, not the domain names.
Having a good domain name that defines your website is no doubt can give you a huge success. Most domain names are long which is hard to remember and not quite readable. If i were to purchase i domain for my website i would only use short domain name like Google.com not much of words, only one word is enough.. and Facebook.com, these websites are not long domain and they are successful websites. It is also recommended if you will use .com extension if your website is for business purposes..
Absolutely correct. [dot] com domains have an extra value for your businesses over the other extensions. The problem is it is not that easy to buy a short, meaningful domain name with .com extension. Availability matters.

Yes what you said is exactly true, but the problem is it is not that easy to buy short meaningful domains. Almost all short meaningful domains has been sold out. The only option is to select bit lengthy meaningful domain (but shortest as possible).

Yes domain names can make or break a blog. Domain names are important specially the TLD. I have experienced the disadvantages of having a subdomain.

I have also experienced it……earlier I was using .co.in domain n now I am using .com n my blog traffic has been doubled in less than one month
I also got the same experience some months back. After changing to a top level domain my blog developed day by day.
