7 Mistakes Which Makes You Dumb on Social Media

By Anmol Makkar 42 Comments

In a very short space of time, we’ve come a long way with Social Media. Social Media is a now a part of our lives and has become necessary and easy to run your business successfully.

Every famous Company of World is now largely focusing on its Social Network, than TV or Print Advertisement. So that’s why it’s necessary to move with trend and get customers/audience.

Why Social Media?

  1. Facebook have more than a 1 billion active user and Twitter has more than 750 million users.
  2. Social Media is like Word to Mouth Marketing – the best one.
  3. Get better position in SERP’s and your blog gets better crawling by Search Engine bots.
  4. Free traffic to your blog and Niche Oriented.
  5. Easiest and best way to connect with your audience.
  6. Blog Branding

To make a good Social Media presence, we just not need create a Fan Page or account and promote your products or services but we should have a good impact on your fans. Many people make mistakes initial, almost everyone. But we have to learn from our every mistakes, rather than doing it again and again.

Social Media Mistakes

7 Mistakes You Make in Social Media

#1 Not being Authentic and Transparent

One should never show himself something he’s not. To get a trust from your audience you should not be afraid to add your personal voice to it. Transparency is what Public demand and should not be ignored.

Be transparent about yourself and your skills. Public loves you only till you’re true to them. The good thing about being the single moderator, you don’t have to approve content with your partners to post updates.

#2 No Aims and Objectives

Lots of times you might have heard “Fail to Plan and Plan to fail”. Well its truth, if you don’t spend a bit of time on planning your Online Marketing, its going to be fail and maybe fatal also.

Before you start your Social Media campaign, initially its must to have Aims and targets for it. Set an achievable target, target the audience you want and where will you find them. These three are the most important objectives for any type of Social Media campaigns.

#3 Doing Hard Selling

This is where mostly people lose their trust and loyalty from the target audience because they spam their Facebook Page/Twitter account with just links and nothing valuable for the people.

Start giving useful content to them like updating some facts related to your market, funny images, asking questions and sharing videos with them, this will definitely going to boost your Online presence and whenever you will share links, they’re surely going to take it seriously.

#4 Treating it as a One-Way Broadcast Medium

Never ever mess with someone, who wants to have a conversation with you. You can fully automate your Pages by sending your blog feed regularly and can forget that you ever had a Social Media accounts for promotion, but surely it has a negative effect.

Social Media seems interesting only when it’s a two-way conversation between you and the community. Remember, Reply to every comments, Messages and other queries from your community.

#5 About section empty or seems ugly

About section is made to show a small description. Everyone before hitting like or follow button will see your bio, definitely if it seems interesting then only he will initiate .

Write an awesome description of your page. A

good example of description is “Founder of @ProBlogger & @DigitalPS, Author, speaker and eBook publisher. Husband & Dad to 3 boys. Love lattes & Leicas. Personal Tweets at @DarrenRowse”, this is the bio of Darren Rowse.

In his short bio, he mentioned his Working Fields correctly and also a bit about his personal life. A bad description can be “I Love cheese!” This small description will be the first impression of how much active you’re on Social Media.

#6 No Patience

Using Social Media is a long-term approach. For a new blog, it takes about 4-6 months to establish a following for his blog. You have to wait to create good followers of your blog and spend quality time in it.

Once it has been established it will continue to build traffic to your blog and people will come looking for you.

#7 Being Traditional, not using advanced tools

You’re out of town so you couldn’t post updates and then tell your visitors “I’m sorry, I went for a small vacation, I will update my account from now”. No you’re doing it wrong way, eventually people never like these type of lame excuses and people may lose interest in you.

You should know how to schedule updates, when you’re out to vacation. Use tools such as BufferApp or HootSuite to manage your Work. If you want, take some pain and try to update and be in touch using a Smartphone for them, there’s no better solution for it.

So the list I’ve compiled is over, but I know the list will be endless if I start to list every problem we make. Let us know what mistakes you’ve made by commenting below and how you coped with it.

Share it with your friends, so that they also don’t make mistakes in the beginning :)

Capture email addresses by giving more

One of the best ways to bring people again and again to your blogs is by capturing their emails. Whenever you publish a new article on your blog, you can use newsletters to send them to your subscribers to keep them coming back for more.

Having a great email list will not only increase website traffic, it also improves your product sales. But you must provide value to your email subscribers often to make money from your email marketing campaign.

Here are few simple ways to build your email list faster.

  • Give away something for FREE (plugin, theme or eBook etc)

  • Use social media sites to bring more people to subscribe
  • Use landing pages

Check out : Why You Need to Start Building an E-mail List

Be active on social media

Social media has become a vital place for most bloggers to spread their ideas and brand.

Social media platforms like Facebook, twitter, Google+ etc will not only bring more online visibility for your blogs, but they will also have the tendency to make your blog go viral.

If you have more followers and fans on social media sites, you can bring drastic changes on your blogging journey. It’s very important for anyone who is blogging for a while to improve their social media interaction to boost their online presence.

If you are always posting useful stuff on your social media profiles, you will definitely be creating curiosity on your fans to read your links whenever you post something on your profiles. So always spend time on social media sites to share others stuff and to boost your online brand to keep your audience coming back for more stuff.

Create series posts

Series posts are attention pullers, most online readers visit your blogs again and again when you have right combination of series posts.

You can start writing series posts on any topic that your readers might be interested in. Few examples are, if you are running a bike advice blog, you could come up with “bike cleaning tips”, “bike maintenance service tips for busy people” etc. This way you will be able to grab the people’s attention who is interested in reading your stuff.

Moreover you can grab their email address by asking them to subscribe at the end of your each post. If they find your series posts interesting, they will certainly do whatever you ask them to do.

Pro tip: Don’t write too many posts in your series posts, limit your posts to 5 to 7 articles and you can complete them by posting everyday on your blogs, thus finishing your series within a week.

Interviews will NEVER get old.

Interviewing someone in your niche is often a great way to get more traffic and attention from other bloggers.

You can see a huge traffic spike in your stats if you interview someone who is influential in your niche. It’s not always possible for a new blogger to conduct interviews of top bloggers, but you can always try interviewing the rising blogging stars in your niche. This way you can bring more online visibility in the early stages of your blog.

If you create a separate page called “Interview section” in your blog and conduct frequent interviews (monthly twice or so), you can bring more audience to your blog again and again. You will also have a tendency to get more likes, shares, tweets and comments on your blogs if they go viral.

Always ask great questions that will provoke your readers mind and build strong relationships with other bloggers by promoting their stuff. This is a win/win approach and you can see great results in no time.

  • Guidelines You Must Follow Before Interviewing a Blogger

Extra tip: Have an appealing blog design, your blog should be designed to get the reader to do something. It could be anything from getting a blog comment to buying your affiliate products. Invest money to buy a premium theme or hire a professional to get a unique design for your blog, after all, first impression is the best impression in blogging.

You can use Theme Junkie or Elegant Themes. They’re best and affordable. You can also check out our deal page too.

10 Top Reasons You Will Keep Failing as A Blogger

By Oluwaseun Babajide 113 Comments

I have been blogging for around 6 months now, and each day presents me with someone who has some kind of blogging failure traits. I notice this easily because I once saw those traits in myself at the early days of my blogging.

I never realized until after a prolonged period. Luckily, you can make your own learning curve shorter by taking advantage of the powerful tips from my experience and association with other pro bloggers.

10 Top Reasons You Will Keep Failing as a Blogger

Here are top reasons why people encounter failure in blogging

1. You Don’t Believe Anything

The first obstacle is your mind. Talking from experience, your success or failure depends on the disposition of your mind. The perception of your class teacher about you, your poor grades and seemingly poor memory are not the determiners of your success or failure, your mind is.

How far you would go in life is not a function of your brain; otherwise, the so called ‘geniuses’ would have been the most successful. Instead, haven’t you wondered that most of the successful people all of the world are school dropouts?

Recently, someone who read about my incredible how I achieved Google pagerank 3 & DA 40 in just 3 months commented so negatively on the grounds that I couldn’t have achieved so much over the short period of time I’ve been a blogger.

Obviously, his negative mindset is at work, forcing him not to believe that such achievement is possible regardless of my blogging duration.

Here’s the lesson; if your mind can picture it, then you can capture it!

2. You Don’t Disbelieve Anything

Doubting everything is also as bad as believing everything, especially when it comes to making money online. In as much as your belief is an essential ingredient to your success, you should also ‘sample’ what to believe as this would help you to be a successful blogger.

A friend of mine was already internet-savvy long before I knew what a computer is. He kept date with all the money making seminars and talks. He will come back lecturing me and would often boast of his wealth of information about internet-based opportunities and best techniques.

Yet, I’ve made decent dollars via internet-based opportunities in a short time, while this good friend of mine is still struggling to make just few dollars a month.

The point is; don’t confuse yourself with all the bulk of information going on over the internet. Filter what you should read and believe.

3. You are Looking for a Get-Rich-Quick Strategy

Best-Blogging-Quotes

I came to learn in a hard way in the early days of my blogging and internet marketing, that there’s nothing like a get-rich-quick or overnight technique.

When I first started out online, I wanted to achieve success fast. Well, you don’t have to blame me because I’m naturally a fast person in virtually everything I do – fast in acquiring my Msc Applied Mathematical Modeling and Computer Science compared to all my mates, fast in talking, fast in walking…just fast in so many areas. So, in my bid of trying to also get it fast in the online arena, I was scammed several times…I simply learnt in a hard way.

Here’s the lesson I’m driving at; there is no such thing as overnight success. It’s simple; since you can’t even get rich quick with a conventional business, the same principle applies to blogging or any form of internet marketing.

So, you may be asking, what’s the average time required to build a successful blog? Well, from my experience, the more work you put the more you get out of it. And a lot of hard work is required in the aspect of creating informative and appealing fresh contents, plus SEO techniques.

4. You are Only Focusing on the Short-Term

If you are only concerned with short term benefit, you will quit too soon from blogging. The most successful bloggers today are those who have patiently groomed their blog with their mind set on the future benefits. So, it took some them an average of five years to start reaping meaningful benefits from their blog. So, if you put in your best now in view of the harvest of the future, you will become a renowned and successful blogger eventually.

5. You are Not Focused

This is possibly the common problem for those who come to the cyberspace to look for income earning opportunities. Of course, I was a victim of this in my early blogging days. If you are not focused on a particular niche and dedicate all your efforts towards it, you will end up being ‘Jack of all trade and master of none!”

Becoming a successful blogger requires carefully choosing something you are passionate about and would not quit even if it seems you are not getting result at the onset. So, in the blogging world, the rule of thumb is to start with just one blog in your specialized area and grow the blog to success before thinking of a second niche and blog.

6. You are Afraid of Criticism

Come to think of it, who among the so-called ‘best men’ or renowned personalities have not been criticized? Is it Bill Gates, Obama, or Nelson Mandela of South Africa…

who?

Simply put, criticism is part of life, especially a life that is prone to success. Don’t quit or feel dejected because someone criticized your blog post or try to put a question mark on your blogging achievement. I was also a victim of criticism when I first started blogging – the criticism sucked and infuriated me. But now, if I don’t get some criticisms, it feels like I am about to fail! Concentrate on doing what is best instead of fizzling out as a result criticism.

7. You are Scared of Monetizing your Blog

It is not a crime to monetize your blog, you deserve some rewards for the quality free values you add to your readers. So, don‘t be scared of monetizing your blog!

Don’t just stop at creating quality contents and generating terrific traffic, take it a step further by generating reasonable profit from your blogging effort.

8. You are Not Marketing Your Blog Sufficiently

You may create the best content, but if you lack marketing expertise your blog would not go far. Excellent marketing strategy is what would place value on your contents and bring the needed reward. So, start thinking more like a marketer in order to succeed in blogging.

9. You Pay Less Attention to Your Content

This is because you are always concerned about generating traffic and achieving high conversion rates. As good as these efforts are, paying more attention to your content is probably the most important. When you offer valuable and relevant content, traffic will naturally flow and higher conversion rate will follow.

10. You are Stagnant with Your Knowledge

If you are still running your blog with yesterday’s blogging tips and knowledge, you will end up delivering ‘half-baked’ value to your readers. And of course, most of them would look elsewhere. Don’t be a ‘one man’s island’.

Relate with other bloggers, visit blogging forums to learn new things and read the blogs of the pros in your niche. It will help to keep your blogging knowledge up to date and add value to your blog.

Digest these truths about blogging success and start implementing them to see result in your blogging career.

9 Easy Ways To Increase Subscribers and Traffic

By Thundey Harwall 29 Comments

Starting a Blog might be an easy task, perhaps its easy for me, but what I found really hard is getting enough traffic and readers to my site.

There are many blogging tutorials on how to get tons of traffic to new blog with no doubts all these tips are good and have its own part in taking your blog traffic to next level, but one hidden treasure I found about getting direct traffic apart from search engine is the blog subscribers that subscribe to get your latest updates in their inbox.

Have you ever imagined woken up one day to find out your subscribers counts thousands? having huge numbers of subscribers can get you more traffic than you’ll ever imagined, but how do you get these subscribers, that’s where another problems comes in, implementing these tips might help in getting more subscribers as you want.

increase subscribers

Easy Ways To Increase Subscribers

Here are some simple and effective ways to get more feedburner subscribers as well more email subscribers.

  • Why You Need to Start Building an E-mail List?

Subscription Box or Icon

There is no way to can gain subscribers if you don’t place any feed Subscription box on your site, get a big RSS icon and neat RSS form on your homepage and below your posts respectively, you may consider getting a free default mail subscription form from feedburner or use a custom subscription form, or you can use pop-up or animated image to draw first visit attention. Just make sure that any form you used was well placed on your site.

Bonus Tip: Let them know that the subscription is free and fast.

Tell them you hate spam and you won’t spam them.

You can consider using MadMimi newsletter.

Encourage new subscribers by sending them personal messages.

Free Offer, Contest and Giveaways

If you really mean business in increasing your subscribers you might want to consider offer giveaways and free offers, write an interesting eBook and give it out for free, does this really help?

Oh yeah very well, recently I reluctantly subscribe to a blog because he’s giving away something I’d want so bad for free, and I know not only me will do this. Believe me almost every one love free offers.

Tips: Don’t tell them they must subscribe to your updated before they can win, but rather tell them that you will announce the winner through your RSS feed subscription link or newsletter, even those who doesn’t participated will subscribe to know the winner.

Feel me? :D

Show off with your Subscribers

Sing out your own praises by showing off with the number of your subscribers, sometimes many subscribers like to follow up with the blog having good numbers of subscribers, I believe the same reason you entered an eatery with many customers and desert the eatery  with no customer.

If you let them know the amount of your subscribers will motivate them to try and give your Blog a shot, you can blow your own horn by displaying your subscriber counts on your site where readers can easily sight it or probably very close to where you put your subscription box, you can use feedburner feed count widget for this.

Tips: Only do this if you have average subscribers, or telling a white lie about your subscribers by increasing the size, any which way you’re looking for subscribers.

  • How to Really Get More Followers FREE on Social Media

Recover Unverified Email Subscribers

Before the RSS subscription process will complete, subscribers need to verified the process with their mail, sometimes some people are lazy and some are ignorant of the process there by ending up not completing the process, if your unverified subscribers go as high as 30-50% percent you may finally end up losing approaching subscribers, but good enough you can send message through email to those subscribers to remind them of their unsuccessful process.

If you’re using any email marketing services, You can do it easily. But feedburner it’s bit hard.

Tips: you can use your webmail account to this, as it create more standard than using other mail services.

Ask People to Subscribe

You doesn’t have to had a sinking feeling by asking people to subscribe to your newsletter or your blog updates, have you forgotten the saying that “ask and thou shalt receive” ? or wait, allow me to say this, some people are laid-back they don’t do something if you don’t ask them to, after you asked them to subscribe to your feeds give them reasons to subscribe.

get subscribers

Tips: At the end of your post you may say something related to this, “dear readers, my next post will be on  “how to get 10,000 of subscribers” you might want to subscribe to my updates to get it firs hand” and add your subscription link.

Check for Your Subscription Broken Link

All links get broken and unlink themselves this thereby causing you to loose new subscribers or your updates may end up not reaching your subscribers, so its your duty to check on your RSS feed link and your reach stats to pretty sure is working good, click on your link once in a while and enter a dummy email to make sure your subscription link is working good.

Use feed Directories

Some people say they used feed directories to get hold of new subscribers, you too might want to haunt for new subscribers using feed directories, oh no! are you picturing to get thousands of new subscribers with this method?

Stop kidding me! ;)

I can only assure you that using feed directories will plus and increase your subscribers, here is few feed directories you can start with you can do more research on your end.  http://www.feedster.com, , http://www.search4rss.com

Create Category Feeds

If you don’t have many categories, this might be skipped but to those who post on different categories you wouldn’t risk your readers who read a nice computer tips on your site and subscribe to your update just to receive some nice computer tips to be receiving  blogging tips post which he doesn’t have any interest in, to prevent this you can individually offer an RSS feed for each of your categories, this will enable each subscriber to get specific topics and not your whole content, WordPress users can easily do this but if you’re on blogger you might want to go extra miles to check which subscribers have the same common interest.

Use your RSS feed link when Commenting

You heard about Commenting on other blogs to gain traffic?

It pretty work if you turn it into daily habit, but sometimes when comment luv not enabled and you have the opportunity to leave your site url, why not using your RSS feed link? Or perhaps when you write guest post for another blog you may add your subscription link to your profile bio, if you’re allowed.

What do you think?

I believe there are many tips one can easily implement to Increase Subscribers, however I just managed to mention just little few out of them which am pretty sure it will work good.
